Hughes wins three of four, breaks record

03 Dec, 2009 03:56 PM
The Lightning Ridge Pirahnas Swimming Club headed to Coonamble on Sunday November 29 to compete in their annual carnival. Our swimmers hit the pool with a splash producing some fantastic results.

Lauren Hughes won three of her four races, with a close second in the last, but it was in the under-10 200m Individual Medley where she broke a record with 3:16:65.

Sky Holland also won three of her races and did exceptionally well against the tough competition.

All the swimmers in the Pirahnas team, Luca, Oscar and Rory Cheal, Zarleigh and Marnie Jones, Lauren and Liam Hughes, Anna Miglietta, Morgan McGregor and Sky and Brook Holland, broke personal bests in Coonamble putting up a strong fight against some of the states up and coming athletes.

The team returned to Lightning Ridge with a few medals and cash prizes and did well for the club and town.
