The Lightning Ridge Swimming Club held their 2008/2009 presentation night at Nobbies on Friday May 15. The majority of the club’s swimmers came out to congratulate their fellow athletes and to receive their own awards.
Luca Cheal, in the five year girls, came first in all her 15m races and was champion for her group.
The six year girls was won by Madyson Tooth in the 25m events while Ronika Brown came in second.
Seven years boys saw Mack Holz take first in the 50m races and Oscar Cheal came in second in his 50m events. In the girls same age group Xhana Tishler took out the heats winning her races
The eight year group winners were Jasmine Tooth for the girls in the 50ms and Jett Tishler for the boys took out his group in the 50m
In the nine year girls Lauren Hughes won all her 50m races plus the 10UIM. Zarleigh Jones came in second and Kiara Davis in third.
Rory Cheal took out the nine year boys 50m and 10UIM races and Archer Holz came in second.
10 year girls saw mixed results with Marnie Jones first in 50m freestyle and butterfly while coming in second for 50m breaststroke and backstroke. Zora Holz was first in the breaststroke and second in the freestyle. Arabella McKenzie came in first in the backstroke and third in her remaining races and Tellulah Mahoney was second in the butterfly.
In the 11 girls Clare Weeks was first in the backstroke and second in the rest while Katie Hough came second in the same event but won the other three. Liam Hughes for the boys 11 won all his 50m races plus the 14UIM.
Twelve year girls saw Rita Walford win her 50m backstroke and freestyle and take second in the breaststroke while Matilda McKenzie won the opposite plus a first in the butterfly.
Three girls took part in the 13 year girls group with Anna Miglietta taking out all four disciplines and second in 14UIM while Amba Taylor followed her in second and third in the 14UIM. Camilla Finne also took part, taking third in the 50m freestyle.
Brook Holland was the sole girl in the 14 year group and respectively won them all.
In the Open group Roman Sisa won his 50m freestyle while Sky Holland took out her events with Morgan McGregor following.
Highest points scorer for the club was Rory Cheal, winning with a total of 228 points.
2008/2009 champions were: Luca Cheal, Madyson Tooth, Mack Holz, Xhana Tishler, Jett Tishler, Lauren Hughes, Rory Cheal, Katie Hough, Liam Hughes, Brook Holland and Sky Holland.
Most consistent winners were: Madyson Tooth, Xhana Tishler, Oscar Cheal, Arabella McKenzie, Marnie Jones, Matilda McKenzie, Roman Sisa, Ronika Brown, Jasmine Tooth, Archer Holz, Kiara Davis, Clare Weeks, Amba Taylor, Anna Miglietta and Morgan McGregor.
Encouragement Award winners were Zarleigh Jones, Zora Holz, Portia McKenzie, Tellulah Mahoney and Rita Walford.
