BLACK

GAME ONE: Lightning Ridge came up against Dirranbandi. Lightning Ridge had the game of their lives - all the players tackled well and tries were scored by Tom Barrett 2, Shelton Brown 2, Jack Barrett 1, Feli Ciprian 2, Dougie Winch 1, Lincoln Wood 1. The final score saw the ’Ridge win 32 - 8 with player of the match going to Shelton.

GAME TWO: Lightning Ridge faced Mungindi in a game which saw all the boys show some great football skills. There was a great slam-down try by Dougie Winch. Later Shelton crossed over the line twice and Lincoln also got a try. The final score was 16 - 16. We would also like to say a big thankyou to all our boys who played for the other teams.

ORANGE

GAME ONE: The Orange Under 8’s travelled up to Dirranbandi this week. In their first game they were evenly matched against Mungindi - both teams scored try for try. Mungindi ended up going over five times while the ‘Ridge got over four times with tries to Jacob Ellis 3 and Sam Rae 1. This game’s player of the match went to Eli Lohse and best dummy half went to Memphis McBride.

GAME TWO: The second game saw the Orange Tigers go up against Dirranbandi. The Tigers played extremely hard with two of the young team members scoring their first rugby league tries. Thomas Ellis and Eli Lohse both went over the tryline twice, Memphis 4, Brandon Boney 3, Jacob and Jock both with 1.

Sam made some big tackles and runs which saw him receive player of the match. A big congratulations to the older boys in the Orange Under 8’s for showing excellent sportsmanship.

Under 10’s

GAME ONE: Patrick Demaine was named captain for our first game against Dirranbandi which was without a doubt the best team effort all season. Peter Demaine controlled the play well in his newly appointed position of half back, with the backs seeing plenty of ball out wide. There were some brilliant tries scored by Jett Tishler, Ben Smith and Winston McBride. Rylan Simms and Oscar Cheal crossed the line for their first tries of the season.

There was great defence by all players across the field keeping the attacking team in their 10 for the majority of their possession.

Player of the match went to Oscar for a steady game at dummy half. Final score Tigers 46 - Dirranbandi 0.

GAME TWO: Led onto the field by captain Bleair Morrison, playing an in-form Mungindi team, the Tigers lost their mojo momentarily in the first half, moving the ball sideways instead of forward.

A try in the corner by Patrick kept them in the game. With the Tigers down by two at half time the score was 6 - 4. Some silly mistakes made by the Tigers forced them to work harder in defence. It was a tremendous show of guts by fullback Dylan ‘Slippery’ Ciprian with copybook tackles and big hits. Some great defence also by Bleair, Ben and Ryan Weatherall.

After a smart try by hooker Oscar and some full-field tries by Winston, the Tigers were able to hang in there, but went down by a try and conversion in the end. Josh Norton took player of the match accolades, having involved himself in defence and an abundance of hit-ups. Final score Tigers 18 - Mungindi 24

UNDER 12’s

TIGERS TRY FEST.

Led onto the turf by captain of the day, Jake Henry, the Tigers Under 12’s exploded with a 13-try haul against the Dirranbandi team on Saturday.

It was a bonus to have a full team of players as this is the first time this season we have been able to field a full-strength team of Under 12’s.

The Tigers team hit the go button from the kick-off with try after try scored across the park following damaging ball carries from the forward pack.

The defence of our team has also improved with the Tigers showing commitment right to the final whistle and keeping the Dirranbandi team scoreless. It was a very impressive display by all 14 players.

Kayden Hooper was awarded player of the match with four tries to his name and great support play. It was great to see Laurence Ronai bag his first four-pointer of the season and big efforts from new boys Farren and Kayden Lamb.

With the Balonne Barwon Under 12’s 43kg Representative Team to be selected within the coming weeks many of our eligible players should be named in the squad as we absolutely blew Dirranbandi off the park.

Arguably the most impressive statistic of the game was the team only made two mistakes all game resulting in change over of possession and completed nearly all sets of six.

Our try conversion kicks need to be addressed as we only managed to convert four of our 13 attempts. Great performance by all, Thanks to assistant staff, well done team. Final score Tigers 60 - Dirranbandi 0.

This weekend’s games are at Mungindi. The bus will leave the bowling club at 6am.
