Under 8’s Orange
In their first game the Under 8’s Orange played the Under 8’s Black. It was a thrilling game with both teams scoring try for try. There were lots of terrific tackles and outstanding off-loads. It was a very close match, which kept the crowd entertained. Joey McIntosh was named player of the match for the Orange team for supporting his teammates and tackling well.
In their second game the Under 8’s Orange played Dirranbandi. Both teams demonstrated great sportsmanship and teamwork. Jacob Ellis scored three tries, Thomas Ellis and Sam Rae scored two tries each and Joey scored another try. Sam Rae deserves a special mention for his excellent defence and attack. Thanks go to Memphis McBride, Jock Ellis and Brandon Boney-Morris who volunteered to play for the Dirranbandi side, all scoring tries for the opposition. The Under 8’s Orange won 10-8. Jock Ellis was named player of the match for setting up tries.
Under 12’s
Down on numbers again the Under 12’s were led onto the turf by captain of the day, Adrian Brown. They started solidly, completing four sets of six without errors.
The team worked well in both defence and attack with four pointers being scored at will.
Big games from the forward pack, which was led by Patty Knight, who was at his devastating best, running rampant on the Mungindi defence line. Brodie Tzvetkoff, Kyle McGovern, Kayden Hooper, who had a particularly great game, and stand-in hooker, Farren Lamb also played well in the try-scoring feast.
Bella Mackenzie, who scored three tries, and Jake Henry, who scored four, were cutting holes in the defensive line nearly every time they touched the ball as the halves combination dictated where and what the team wanted to play.
Some classy touches from Adrian Brown and Kayden Lamb occurred throughout the game. Three cheers for Rylan Simms who is always keen to assist our Under 12’s team when we’re short on numbers and step up a grade.
Our team’s defence continues to improve and is the best in the competition as the Tigers show commitment right to the final whistle. They kept the Mungindi team scoreless yet again.
Great win team. Final score: Tigers 48- Mungindi 0.
