Under 8’s Orange
The first game on Saturday saw Under 8’s Orange play Dirranbandi.
Jacob Ellis and Dylan Kingdom put their hands up to play for Dirranbandi so the sides were even, thanks boys.
This week we could really see all the hours of training start to pay off.
Memphis McBride and Dougy Winch both crossed the line twice while Jock Ellis scored one try.
Joey McIntosh ran the ball like a pro and scored his first try which earned him Player of the Match.
The Tigers defeated Dirranbandi 24 - 8.
The second game for Under 8’s Orange was a fast-paced game against Mungindi.
The Tigers worked well as a team and put on some huge tackles for their spectators.
Dougy Winch played an amazing game crossing the line three times.
Jacob Ellis and Sam Rae both scored one try.
Dougy Winch was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding running of the ball.
The Tigers against Mungindi ended in a tie. It was 20-all.
Under 8’s Black
The report for the Under 8’s Black was not available this week.
Under 10’s
The first game this weekend was against Dirranbandi.
The Tigers had an easy victory with Ben Smith guiding them around the field like a pro and Rylan Simms as captain.
Dan Dillion, Ashley and Brad all tackled brilliantly.
Winston, Oscar, Peter and Patrick all ran the ball straight and hard, which set the platform for the backs to attack.
A strong effort from all the new players - Bleair, Ryan M, Joshua and Lachlan - saw the game flow smoothly. Well done boys.
With some excellent cross-field kicks from Ben, Jett was able to score two tries.
Ryan Weatherall showed great potential by running the ball and tackling everything that ran at him which got him get a well-deserved Player of the Match.
Winston scored an outstanding five tries.
The Under 10’s Tigers played Mungindi in their second game.
As Mungindi were short of players, Joshua Norton and Lachlan Bryden put their hands up to play with them - what great sportmanship.
The Tigers continued their great form in the first half of the game with great straight running from Oscar Cheal who made great ground with each run.
Dan and Bleair defended brilliantly and so did Ash and Brad.
Jett, Winston and Rylan again led by example.
The Tigers were up at half-time; however a determined Mungindi side fought back to win the game with a try in last 30 seconds.
Ben Smith again tackled well and led the Tigers around the field as he was captain for this game.
Under 12’s
Last weekend saw an improvement on the number of players available for the under 12’s team at Mungindi however we are still a few short of the amount needed.
In any case all players were up for a big effort.
Led out onto the turf by captain of the day, Jake Henry, the team was keen for a big show.
Following the kick off our team, due to a mistake-free opening few sets of six, started the try scoring fest by targeting the edges of the Mungindi defence.
By full-time the Tigers under 12’s team had run in 11 tries to nil.
Conversion of tries is an area the team will need to improve as only two goals were awarded from 11 attempts.
All players deserve to be recognised.
Rory Cheal, Bella McKenzie, Samuel Jackson-Bolton amd Jake Henry also crossed the white line following structured attack.
Jack Thompson and new recruit, Lawrence Ronai gave a whole-hearted effort.
Determined ball running from under 12’s “forward of the district’’ Patty Knight, who was supported by Kyle McGovern and Josh McCormick, saw the forwards set up space out wide for the backline to excel.
The team is playing well together and displaying some great kick-and-chase attacking raids resulting in two clever four- pointers.
Great game by all.
Rory was awarded Player of the Match for his big effort.
Special mention to Bradley Davis who again stepped up from the under 10’s to act as a reserve for our under 12’s team.
This week we have two games at home on Saturday and players are encouraged to be at Spider Brown Oval at 8.15am this Saturday.
