We all know silence is more than closed lips.
The constant chattering of the mind also has to be stilled until there is an inner silence.
It's a long and hard process to practise.
But the reward is our energy slowly gathers when our mind is silent.
The silent mind reflects things accurately, without distortion, and introspection and self-observation can easily take place.
With silent minds we become aware of the different types of thoughts; out sacred thoughts, our desires and longings and our fears. Then we can face them and eradicate them from our mind. It is wise and practical to observe every thought and feeling as it arises in our mind, being aware of its cause, content and meaning.
And such observation may become everyday game, like playing with our inner worlds. By observing our thoughts like this, suppressed experiences in the unconscious mind start to unfold themselves, releasing tremendous energy, while unburdening the unconscious mind of all conflict.
After some period of such playing practise our mind will start to experience a stillness for longer and longer periods in which there is no observer or observed, no subject or object, just awareness of silence and peace. And it is easy to practice this observation any time at any place.
Just try and you'll find it is even funny to play with your inner world.
You'll love it.
