The Lightning Ridge Strikers travelled to Walgett on the weekend to play the last games of the term.
All teams were down a few players because of the rain but still put in a 100 per cent effort.
It's been a great season so far for the under-6s who haven't lost a game yet.
All players did well on Saturday winning the game 5-1.
Zora played enthusiastically throughout and Lauren also had her mind on the game, giving her best.
The under-8s played one long game on Saturday defeating the Wolves 3-1.
The Wolves scored early in the first half, which was a wake up for the Strikers who came back with three great goals.
Liam Hughes scored two of the goals, which were almost the length of the field, and Darcy Single got some great passes away.
Jake Pedan defended well in goal along with some great team defence.
The under-10s were missing quite a few players this week and struggled to fend off the Wolves who have a pack of players in this age group.
The Ridge 9s and 10s went down to the Walgett 10s 2-0, before going down to the Walgett under-9s 2-0.
The two Walgett teams then played each other resulting in a 1-all draw.
The Ridge team then went down to the Walgett 10s 4-0 before finally winning a game against the Walgett 9s, 3-1.
The last time they played the under-12s ended their game in a 0-all draw.
This week the teams were still evenly matched but the balls were flying into the goals.
On the Ridge side Tasman, who is normally goalie scored three goals and Lachlan scored one.
Two more goals for the Ridge were scored by borrowed Walgett players Jason and Sydney and another was an own goal, accidentally kicked in by the Wolves.
All up the Strikers scored seven goals.
The Walgett team scored eight goals all up.
Taiwa scored four, Sara three and the last goal was a penalty shot.
Thank you to the Wolves for lending the Strikers some players, and thanks to Ian Woodcock for driving the bus.
With only seven more games and two carnivals left in the season the club is keen to find two or three parents willing to help out.
We still don't have a coach for the under-10s to replace Stuart who left town last month, and with Judy in and out of hospital we need someone willing to take over the canteen or at least some more helpers happy to step in when Walgett are in town.
Anyone interested please ring Kelly on 6829 2653.
We all wish Judy a speedy recovery and hope to see her back at soccer soon.
The first game next term will be on Saturday July 23 when Walgett teams travel to the Ridge and the next carnival is in Moree on August 7.
