Top bowlers in town for Black Opal carnival

24 Oct, 2002 08:36 AM
The Black Opal Classic bowling carnival is on this week at the Lightning Ridge District Bowling Club. The event is one of the most lucrative bowling events held in Australia.

With about $35,000 presented in prize money, it is no wonder the event attracts around 130 of Australia's most accomplished bowlers.

Last year's champions, Ross Maguire from Barmenton, John Dawson from Wodonga, Richard Schutt and Bryant Howie (replacing Peter Daly) from Canberra have returned to contest their title. The event is well worth a look and there is plenty happening at the club this week.

Unfortunately the Meatloaf Show on Friday night has been postponed until further notice.

A replacement band will provide the entertainment for Friday's festivities with many of the bowlers staying to celebrate the week's results.

Bookings for the Halloween Family Deal are quickly filling up, so if you would like to sample sumptuous sinister delights like Kruger's Out Lamb Kebabs, Hell Raiser King Prawns or City Morgue Tender Chicken Strips, call the club on 6829 0408 to reserve your table.
