Fishing tips
How good is it too hit the water with a few old mates and catch up on old stories and new.
Here is one of the funnier happenings I have heard about in my travels.
Ashley and Pete went fishing together down a river.
It was a pretty big trip, they'd planned it for weeks beforehand and were now pretty proud of the camp they had set up.
Pete was particularly impressed with his camp oven.
He was cooking up a storm including some delicious looking stew and some warmed up apple pie for desert.
The big hike into the river and the long process of setting up the perfect camp had given the boys one hell of an appetite.
However no angler worth his salt would eat dinner until the lines were in so the lads cast out while the stew simmered a tad closer to perfect.
Just as Pete sat down to dinner the bells on his rod rang signalling a bite.
Pete just about dropped his plate as he got up and rushed down the bank to his rod.
He could see tthe fish was not on so he sat patiently waiting for a second bite.
He waited and waited until he couldn't resist the lovely aroma of dinner any more.
He headed back to his tent and sat down to eat.
Just as he was about to take a bite the bells rang again, this time even louder. It had to be a whopper - Pete bolted for his rod.
Again the fish was not hooked and again it did not come back for another bite.
It seemed that every time Pete headed back to take a bite of his dinner, a fish would bite his bait.
This happened half the night until Pete started to wonder why Ashley's rod had been getting no bites.
He went back to dinner, but this time kept his bait out of the water.
Once again, as he went to eat, the bells rang.
Pete decided to have a closer look at his rod and found a piece of string tied to the rod holder.
He followed the string quietly along and it led him back to Ashley's swag.
There was Ashley with the string in one hand and some apple pie in the other.
Luckily Pete saw the funny side of this, I can't wait to see what Pete does to Ashley in return.
