There were a total of ten players for the veterans competition this week.
The boys played a four ball with the winning team being Pat Smith and Terry Whoni on 50 points.
The runners up on 44 points were Reg Huntley and Bryan Earl.
Results:
Winners - Pat Smith and Terry Whoni; runners up: Reg Huntly and Bryan Earl.
I believe on Wednesday November 13, there will be the Veterans 2002 Championships over 18 holes so by the time you read this, we should have a 2002 Veterans Champion.
Good luck to all players
Ladies Wednesday
The ladies played a 12-hole stroke event at 8.30am with the best round going to Kay Hogan with a 47 nett, just beating Stacey Reynolds with a 51.33 nett.
The balls went to Elyn Nexo on 53.67 nett and Jan Davis with 55 nett.
Friday chook run
Players arrived early for the chook run on Friday this week.
There were only 18 players for the day and they all hit off early.
Mick Derouet played a masterful game to slip in with 24 points and take the lead for a short time.
But he was only keeping the seat warm for the one and only Elyn Nexo who scored a great 24 points but totally blitzed Mick on the count back. Well-done Elyn.
Players won chooks with scores down to 18 points.
The Black Opal Advocate encouragement award went to a young lady who's mind must have been on something much more interesting than playing golf as she scored a miserable 10 points. Never mind Kay, that gets rid of "that" game and it must be all good from here on.
Results:
Winner - Elyn Nexo.
Chooks to Mick Derouet, John Mackay, Jan Davis, Don Welsh, Pat Smith, Heidi Smith and Wolf Moosmueller.
Saturday 12 hole par
Due to the LRMA Christmas party being held at the golf club, we were only able to have a morning hit-off with only five players arriving.
The winner in this very much-reduced game was Trevor Hudson with a neat plus three for the 12 holes. The runner up with a minus two was Jan Davis.
Due to the small field only first and runner up prizes were allotted.
Winner - Trevor Hudson; runner up - Jan Davis.
Saturday afternoon saw the LRMA Christmas party held at the club after the annual general meeting at the bowling club, quite an interesting meeting I am told.
A very enjoyable afternoon of food, games and even a very strange game of golf in the heat took place.
Not sure who won any of the games, but saw the president of the LRMA attempt to get an apple from a bucket of water.
Not much apple but a mighty wet president.
Congratulations to all those who made the day the success -especially the chefs and helpers. Well done all, for your behaviour, it was a pleasure to host you all.
Sunday 18 holes
A nice little group of 10 players for the stableford event on Sunday morning.
The winner played an absolutely fantastic game of golf to seriously reduce his handicap after winning by eight points of the day.
Felix Monch scored his 47 points by playing great golf for the entire 18 holes, well done mate. As soon as I have finished telling everyone how good you played the handicapper will fix your new handicap.
The runner up with a very neat 39 points was Bryan Earl who had a very steady round.
Results:
Winner - Felix Monch; runner up - Bryan Earl.
Balls to: Dave Schafer and Wolf Moosmueller.
A big thank you to all those that cleaned up outside after the big party yesterday, you did a great job.
