TEAMS CONVERGE ON RIDGE FOR CARNIVAL

Forty teams of pairs and thirty-two teams of fours contested the Annual Black Opal Classic Prelude Bowls Carnival at Lightning Ridge Bowling Club last weekend.

Players attended from all across the State, as well as interstate. Clubs represented were Bendigo, Bollon (Qld), Sawtell, Grafton, Wentworthville Leagues, Penrith, Wallacia, Wee Waa, Dubbo, Coonamble, as well as Walgett, Goodooga and the Ridge.

There were some great bowls played and both the pairs and the fours sections required play-offs to determine the winners.

The pair's winners consisted of G Morris and PA Morris from Lightning Ridge in at first place, followed closely by A Tighe jnr and A Tighe in second place.

Then there was D Stallard and R Dykes in third position and R Skuthorpe and D Smith at fourth.

In the fours teams the winners are as follows - the Penrith team V Garten, N Philp, S Philp and J Dachard leading in first place, the Walgett team J Clarke, N Walford, A Tighe jnr and A Tighe in second place, the Lightning Ridge team M Smith, P Hyde, D Webb and N Woodcock in third place and a composite team of L Walford, J Smith, D Samualson and R Dixon fourth.
