Eight competitive teams and one non-competitive team represented the Lightning Ridge Central School at the State Aeroskool Challenge on July 7.
The students' behaviour and sportsmanship was exceptional.
They showed commitment and dedication to regular practice before the event and tenacity to maintain the enthusiasm for the performances on the day.
We had six of the eight competitive teams place and two teams qualified for the Australian National Championships.
This would not have happened if the children had not maintained such a good attitude, had the support of many people in the school and the community. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank the following people.
A big thank you to all of the staff who helped but especially the following: Mr Pratt, Mr Nelder, Mrs Reid, Mrs Riesinger, Mrs Hewett, Mr Nordstrom, Mrs Schmidt, Ms DeLosa, Mrs Morriss, and Mrs O'Donoghue. These people went above and beyond the call of duty often giving up there free time to help out.
The following community members voluntarily spent long hours making costumes for our teams. Mrs Pollard, Mrs Nordstrom, Miss Pitt, Mrs Davison, Terri-Leigh Vermeer and Mrs Jakitsch.
Mrs Tribe did a wonderful job of driving the bus and along with Mrs Gawthorpe helped with the students in Sydney, as did Mrs Davidson who also worked tirelessly to fundraise.
Thank you to the business houses and individuals who donated money to help fund this excursion.
The success of this performance experience shows what we can expect when students, staff and the community all work together for a common goal.
Thank you everyone involved.
