Friday chook run
Where would we be without a little excitement on our chook chase with 26 players?
The girl to cause all the excitement is usually such a quiet person but I believe she could be heard all across the course as her ball hit solidly from the third tee, zapped through the bunker and very gently rolled until it met the cup.
A hole in one to the one and only Sally Williams.
The winner of the chook run was Sally Williams, that six pointer was the difference between Sally and Brian King who finished on the same score of 23 points.
The Black Opal Advocate Encouragement Award went to Scott Wooldridge.
Chooks to: Brian King, Stacey Reynolds, Wendy Barrett, Jan Davis, Heidi Smith, Don Welsh, Sepp Jakitsch, Pat Smith, Kath Johnston, John Mackay and Ron Canlin.
Saturday 12 hole stableford
A great turnout of 17 players for the event, well done all.
The winner with a fine round of golf was Ron Canlin with 27 points, Ron held out Jan Davis who finished just two points away on 25 as runner-up.
Good to see Dudley Dowdle back for a game at the weekend, he headed home the following morning.
Balls to: John Kennedy, John Mackay, John Kimber, Don Welsh and Dudley Dowdle.
Sunday men's foursomes championships
Six teams hit off in the hope of becoming the Lightning Ridge Men's Foursomes Champions at 9am in the morning.
The favourites for the event must have had a hiccup somewhere around the course as they finished with no score recorded during the mini 18 holes that altered the odds with many others then coming into consideration.
The winning team was only put together on Sunday morning as Felix was without a partner until Malcolm arrived. Well done fellas with an 87 off the stick Felix Monch and Malcolm Carpenter become the 2003 Men's Foursomes Champions. The boys won by two shots from Wolf Moosmueller and Don Welsh who scored an 89 off the stick.
The nett winners for the day were Gary Hughes and Knud Nexo with a 93 nett 65 which gave them the win from runners-up for the day Felix Monch and Mal Carpenter on 87 nett 72, they were closely followed by Wolf Moosmueller and Don Welsh on 89 nett 72.5.
