Runners from Lightning Ridge Central School headed to Walcha last week to compete in the regional cross country with Bill Turk qualifying for State.
Teacher Ben Krusher said it was bitterly cold in Walcha and a long trip, although students from the Ridge did their school and the town proud.
One hundred and twenty schools competed and the competition was fierce.
Bill Turk finished third in the 13 years with other students running very well.
