12 Nov, 2003 05:04 PM
Seven of our golfing ladies turned up for Wednesday's par event.

The winner with a score of plus two was Kay Hogan.

Kay was successful by three strokes from Winsome O'Brien in second place on minus one.

The ball winner in a count back was Elyn Nexo over Heidi Monch, with both players on minus two.

Results

Winner: Kay Hogan; runner-up: Winsome O'Brien; ball to: Elyn Nexo.

Veterans' golf

A total of eight of the elder gentlemen of the club hit off in their Wednesday competition his week.

A great turnout fellas.

The winner with a great score of 30 points was Val Boardman, just one point clear of Pat Smith on 29 points.

I'm just guessing with the ball result as there was no results in the book.

Balls probably went to Ron Canlin and Wolf Moosmueller.

Friday chook run

Twenty-one dedicated chook chasers arrived for the all-day hit off on Friday this week.

Must top up the freezer for summer.

With a very steady 23 points the win went to Elyn Nexo in a count back from Nigel Webb, also on 23 points.

Chooks were captured by all players with 19 points and above for the game.

The Earth Jewel Encouragement Award went to the flashing shaft of Bruce Buchannan with a mid altering 13 points.

Hard luck Bruce, you had a few challengers but they fell by the wayside.

Enjoy the chicken chips mate.

Results

Winner: Elyn Nexo; chooks to: Nigel Webb, Jan Davis, Heidi Smith, Barry Fahey, Sally Williams, Kath Johnston, Felix Monch and Pat Smith.

Saturday

Only four players turned up for the practise hit.

Sunday

With Sunday being showdown day for Ron Hogan and Ron Canlin for the Medal of Medals we saw 11 players all up for the day.

While everyone played the stableford event for the day Ron and Ron headed off with Pat Smith to play out the big one.

The halfway mark saw a fairly close event, but with Ron Canlin having a three stroke advantage.

That was the way they finished with Ron Canlin taking out the Medal of Medals with a nett 77.

Congratulations to Ron Canlin. You will have to get him next year, Hoges.

The stableford saw a medley conducted with Kay Hogan and Heidi Smith joining in.

The girls gave the boys a bit of a lesson with Kay Hogan the winner on 45 points and Heidi picking up a ball on 37 points.

All around these figures were Wolf Moosmueller with 39 points and Sepp Jakitsch on 38 points.
