The Ladies President's Day on Sunday went off very well.
Winners were Lisa Brown (skip), Helen Buchanan, Liz Collins and Val Clarke.
Runners-up were Betty LeCudennec (skip), Glenda O'Dwyer, Fay Gale and Trudi Mandelc.
Lisa Brown said it was the first time she had played together with the other women on her team.
It was also a first for her as a president's day winner and as a skip.
"I found it was very challenging being a skip, there is more responsibility and it is completely different to playing any other position," she said.
But Ms Brown said she didn't know her team had won until it was announced at the luncheon following the competition.
"It was a very good match, we played one game with 21 ends."
The four local winners beat their opponents from Walgett convincingly for an end result of 30-7.
Teams from Moree, Walgett, Collarenebri and Coonamble competed on the day.
President Betty LeCudennec said Sunday was also the first time all the Lightning Ridge teams had won.
She said there were five local teams who had taken on the challenge of playing the five visiting teams.
"The day has been a great success, it was very enjoyable."
Mrs LeCudennec said she was still happy with the turnout even though some cancellations had been received from players.
Patron Rene Boehm once again supported the day and had a presence during the event.
Betty Amiet won the club's latest raffle (ticket 24F red star) receiving a Dolphin's oil burner, and the second prize went to Val Tuxford (ticket 15A yellow star) also of Walgett, who won a bed doll.
A list will be on the men's board in the next few days for Father's Day on September 1. If interested please have your name down by 2pm on August 31.
The next meeting is on August 31, at 2pm at the club.
