Ridge juniors shine at carnival

07 Jul, 2004 08:18 PM
Local Under-10 rugby league players Tyron Drew, Brodie Simon, George McCormick, Terry Brown and Lindsay Frizzell have returned from the Queensland 34th Annual Under-10 - 35kg Rugby League Football Carnival which was held at St George from June 27 to July 2.

Our boys represented the Balonne/Barwon Bandits and played nine other sides from around Queensland.

Sides included Redcliff, McIntyre, Wynnum, Murrumba Central Downs (City), Roma, Charleville, Western Downs and Cunnamulla (Country).

The boys played two games each day during the course of the week and finished in third place on the table.

This is the best result the side has achieved for the past 13 years with wins in all but three of their games - 5 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses. A great effort by all five Ridge players.

Congratulations Terry Brown, who came away with Most Improved Award and earned Country selection.

Our boys played strongly and made our town proud. Best wishes for our Under 12s - 43kg representatives who are in Chinchilla playing this week.

The Ridge Tigers' next games are at Mungindi on Saturday July 17.

Training starts on July 12.
