Presentation for tiny netballers

20 Aug, 2003 05:15 PM
The 3-5-year-old netball team was awarded trophies for their efforts last Saturday in a small ceremony at the Lightning Ridge indoor sports centre.

The girls have just completed an eight-week program designed to improve their ball skills and get them used to working as a team.

The program has been run regularly for many years and has been the first experience with netball for many young players.

Unfortunately there is no older team playing at the moment but the parents of this team hope that will change.

Lorretta Mapperson, mother of one of the pint sized players is very pleased with the what the program achieved.

"Some of the girls couldn't even catch the ball at the beginning. It's amazing how much they've learned."

Certainly from the grins on their little faces, the girls have really enjoyed themselves.
