Pool area to look like new

Pool area to look like new

24 Sep, 2003 07:32 PM
Due to circumstances beyond our control the opening of your swimming pool has been postponed until Saturday October 4 and the opening of the water theme pool will be on Tuesday October 7.

We apologise for the delay, but in return you'll have a fully renovated swimming pool and theme pool.

Thanks a million to the marvellous people of the CDEP. First Sharon Mahoney for authorising the work, Laurence Walford for agreeing and organising Chris Lavender to cart away the sand, and then organising a team comprising Rodney Cobb, Melbyn Samuelsson, Jacob Bolton, Darren Dean, Anthony Jackson, Patrick Vrtachnik and Steve Bolton to help lay 1200m2 of turf. Thanks guys, you all did a magnificent job.

Also I would like to thank Jamie and Linda and their children Gordon and Aaron for laying the turf, weeding all the pool grounds and watering the new turf. They are all great workers especially Jamie, your new pool manager, who was a real Jack of all trades, helping everywhere and making sure your pool will be safe for everyone. All their work is voluntary, so thanks a million to the Collins family.

Also thanks to George Mulder for designing and placing safely mats on the edge of the Lazy river pool to make it safe for the kids. Great job George, you're a beaut mate.

Who said the Walgett shire doesn't look after the Ridge pool?

Well this year for the very first time they are paying for the major maintenance of the pool and theme pool:

1. They paid about $2500 for 600m2 of turf.

2. They paid $12500 for the tower for our 3.4m water slide all galvanised, galvanised lids for all balance tanks, reinforcing the grandstand with concrete bases and reinforcing the internal frame of our infant three slides island.

3. They paid for all the plumbing repairs at the theme pool.

4. They organised with their insurance to replace all torn shade cloth (after that horrible storm we had in April this year) with brand new material as well as removing it and putting it back in place.

5. And most importantly they paid about $40,000 to paint all pools and the theme pool.

This painting is the cause for the unforseen delay and beyond the control of the pool committee.
