Women's rugby league
In the second game for women's rugby league, the Brewarrina Goo-Gars arrived with a full team, splashed out in the team colours fully uniformed looking pretty smart (professional).
Lightning Ridge however couldn't field a full side to start the season but the interest shown when the game started was very encouraging, with the game beginning with seven-a-side, but picking up in stages.
The match was played with two 15-minute halves, with Brewarrina eventually running out winners scoring 22-8.
For the Ridge girls there were excellent skills shown by Jen Walford, Jodie Brown and top tackling from Shari Stanford (you go girls).
Our tries were scored by Jodie and Jennifer.
These girls have led the charge to field a women's team for Lightning Ridge since the competition started last year, so we ask for all interested females out there to give your support to this great concept of rugby league.
The girls will hopefully travel to Walgett next round so come on and get your team together and ready, to take on the Walgett Dragons.
