Basketballers played their second last round on Tuesday night before the final play-offs.
Round nine saw Lomax Lightning defeat Khans 19-16 in the first game.
Club spokesperson Vicki Bokros said Lomax Lightning had only five players with no subs but led the whole game.
"Lomax had a substantial lead in the first half," she said.
"However, in the second half they started to lose because all the players were getting tired being constantly on the court.
"In the end though they managed to hold their lead in what was a low scoring game because Lomax Lightning had a strong defense," she said.
The second game of the night saw the Comets walk away
with an automatic win after the Beginners forfeited.
The score table after round nine: Lomax Lightning lead with 24 points, the Gems are next with 20, Comets are on 18, Khans one point behind on 17, and the Beginners are at the bottom on 16 points.
Round 10, the last match before the finals will be played on Tuesday.
A meeting for all the team captains will also be held prior to the matches on Tuesday at 6pm to discuss the finals timetable.
