Representatives from the department of sport and recreation held swimming clinics at Lightning Ridge pool last Tuesday.
Around 20 juniors participated in the day which was held to encourage people in Lightning Ridge with their swimming.
The lessons were free and all participants came out with yellow level accreditation as swimming instructors.
Pool manager Jamie Collins said he was very pleased the representatives had come out to Lightening Ridge to conduct the swimming clinics.
"What would normally cost someone $230 to become a qualified instructor in swimming will cost them nothing, so I think it's a wonderful thing that they're doing and I support them 100 per cent," he said.
"The aim of these clinics is to provide training to indigenous people and people who are not in a position to pay for swimming lessons."
