The squad travelled to Terrigal last week to compete in the inaugural Academy Games. The team included girls from as far afield as Brewarrina, Nyngan, Cobar, Coonabarabran and Gulargambone, and competed against Academy teams from right across the State. The squad did very well. They defeated the Northern Inland Academy of Sport and the Southern Region Academy of Sport. They also drew with the Southeast Academy of Sport.FWAS Netball head coach Debbie Clark said: "All the girls stepped up to the challenge of playing against some of the best netballers in the State and made us very proud to be involved in the FWAS Netball Talent Squad." It has been a hectic few months for Kristina who has just completed her final exams for Year 11. Studying for them was difficult, though, when she was making the 13-hour round trip to Bathurst and back to compete in the State League each week. Every weekend she would travel to Bathurst on the Saturday, play a game on the Sunday then make the long drive home that night. Ruth Johnson from the FWAS said: "The girls' and their parents' commitment to the sport has to be applauded."Kristina, though, doesn't see it that way.
