Junior on target to take point score

18 Jul, 2002 09:37 AM
Richard Hunt from the Goulbourn Gun Club was an excited young winner of the 25 Target Continental Points Score shooting event, that took place late Saturday afternoon.

Richard was the only shooter to successfully complete the task of hitting his 25 targets with his first barrel shot.

This is an excellent result for the young shooter.

It would have been a good trip home for the young fellow after beating his chauffer and father.

His father did not go home empty handed though taking out the A grade portion of the event.

Earlier in the afternoon, his older brother James made off with the loot in the 15-target walk back event again shot continental style.

Many of the club's regular shooters struggled with the not-so-regular continental style of target.

Some cursing was heard from one of the Walgett shooters about Japanese engineering and continental targets.

The second half of the program started after the evening barbecue.

The first of the night events was a 10-target eye opener, with five shooters scoring nine out of 10.

A short shoot off took place, with Matthew Power of Cumborah being the winner.

Nineteen shooters took to the walkways for the final event of the evening, the 25 target "Potch Double Barrel Championships".

While the master was away showing the members of the Warren Gun Club, what we from the isolated north can do, his apprentice Nathan Power was making short work of the opposition, with a perfect score of 25.

Nathan took home the overall winner's sash and trophies.

Larry White was the B grade winner, with David Hall taking out the C grade competition.

It was a great turn up for the club, with close to 35 people attending the event as both participants and spectators.

We wish to thank all of those people that turned up for our event, particularly those that travel to our town for events such as the one we conducted on the weekend.
