This year the Lightning Ridge Central School in conjunction with the Lightning Ridge Gymnastics Club will be offering the following programs.
All students from Years 1 to 12 are invited to participate in the Rock and Croc eisteddfods.
The Rock Eisteddfod is performed in Dubbo usually the last week of Term 1.
We will be entering a senior, middle school and junior item.
All work for this will be done at school during sport or lunch time.
This is a competitive event, it has previously cost under $50 per child.
The Croc Festival is held in Moree and is usually the last week in Term 3.
We will be sending the same item (but obviously improved) and three teams. This is a non competitive event, it has previously cost under $50 per child.
To replace the Aeroskools program we will be sending students away to compete at rhythmic gymnastics.
There will be some practise done in school sports time and lunch time but the majority of the training will be done after school at the sports centre with the gymnastics club.
Competition is restricted to students over the age of eight.
The classes are: Monday 3.30pm to 5.30pm rhythmic gymnastics Levels 2 to 5 (competitive athletes, need to have all their own equipment.)
Tuesday 3.30pm to 4.30pm beginners dance and pre-level and level 1 rhythmic gymnastics. (mostly recreational class/ non competitive).
Wednesday 3.30pm to 4.30pm general gymnastics juniors, 4.30pm to 5.30pm general gymnastics seniors.
Compulsory insurance with NSW gymnastics is required by the second lesson your child attends, recreational athletes $30, competitive athletes $50.
Term fees are $40 (please note there are no individual lesson fees next year), there are family rates on application and term fees need to be paid by the second week of each term.
All female students need to wear a leotard each lesson (older girls can wear bike pants over the top if they wish).
All male students need to wear sports shorts and a singlet top.
All competitive students need to have all their own equipment each lesson.
Competitive students will need to pass a NATS test usually $10.
Qualify at Narrabri, Inverell or Armidale for usually $25.
If you get to State and National level the cost is usually $40 per competition.
While this may sound like a lot of money it is better to know what you are up for from the start.
We hope these programs will continue to run smoothly and successfully.
The students last year enjoyed great exposure and variety, had lots of fun and presented themselves and represented the school well.
This year is shaping up to be even bigger and better.
