Glengarry golfers win interclub championship

07 Jul, 2004 08:17 PM
The Grawin golfers came over to Glengarry on Sunday for the final of this year's interclub championship.

There were 32 players.

Prior to the presentations, Pop Healy thanked the local ladies who prepared the food and refreshments, also Doug and Kerry, who did a great job on the booze bike.

The winner was Leo Ballard with 44 points, and runner-up, Frank Butta on a count back from Ian Graham - all Glengarry players.

Bob Brooks (Grawin) scored the mens' longest drive, and Barbara Prout (Glengarry), the ladies' longest drive.

Nearest the pins were Dave Head and Tom Passfield (Grawin).

Gobblers to Frank Butta, Dave Head, Una Ballard, Robert Cotten (2), and the other Dave H. (My shorthand was too short and I hope I haven't missed anyone).

Ball winners were Les Craik, Dave Herbert, Una Ballard, Dianne Healy, Jim Maselli and Keven Gartlan.

Most importantly, Glengarry finally won the trophy with 34.65 points to Grawin's 31.8. It's been a long time.
