On the weekend local netballers Kristina Kelly, Shari Gibbs and Carley Alchin travelled to Warren to attend the Far West Academy of Sport netball trials.
There were about 48 girls there from around the area, all competing for spots on the squad.
Cindy Brown, who took the girls across, said the girls learnt a lot from the experience.
"They learnt a lot of new drills and picked a few skills," she said.
It was nothing new for Kristina Kelly. She was part of the 2005 Far West Academy team that travelled to the inaugural Academy Games at Terrigal in October this year, where they did very well. The girls are now waiting to hear if they were selected.
