Gems won the grand final in basketball on Tuesday night after a close tussle against opponents, Beginners.
In what was described as a really good match, Gems made 27 points to Beginners' 21 by the time the clock stopped ticking.
Basketball spokesperson Vicki Bokros said the game was a bit rough, but everyone played exceptionally well.
Beginners had made it through to the grand final match after Lomax Lightning forfeited to them last week in the semi finals.
"Both teams put their shots up and the efforts were spread across the board.
"Beginners played a very good defence, but Gems put up some three pointers which kept them in the lead.
"In the end Beginners just missed a few too many shots."
She said on the Gems side Belinda Stone played a really good defensive game, while Troy Krause shot a few hoops.
"From the Beginners' side Leah played a good game, Jessica Brown held up some good defence and Patrick Vrtacnik managed to get a lot of baskets and held the team together."
Gems now walk away with $300, and Beginners with $150 in prize money.
Each team's best and fairest player of the season, which are still to be selected, will also receive a Zita's Video voucher.
The club would like to thank Lawrence Walford for refereeing nearly all matches, the committee members, Priscilla Strasek, Vicki Bokros, Ros Smith and Rhonda Ashby, sponsors Mr Cheap, Zita's Video, Barriekneal Shell, Down to Earth Opals, Duncan's Fashions, the Harlequin Cafe and Supersave, and all the players and supporters.
A new committee would be welcomed for the next season.
