The competition kicks off on Wednesday, August 27 and all fish must be weighed in at the Lightning Ridge Hotel Motel before 5pm on Sunday August 31.

Any member can weigh in at any time while the competition is being run as long as there is another member present and both sign the book.

There are three divisions - open cod, largest adult yellow belly and junior yellow belly.

Plus there is the overall points competition, where you can also enter your fish.

A copperhead 4kg to 5kg rod, an overhead reel and a fantastic fish knife is the one and only prize in the club raffle running at the moment.

Tickets are available for $1 each at the Hotel Motel and the raffle will be drawn on August 31.

Nobby's Fishing Club held its third fishing competition for the year during the school holidays.

The weigh-in was held at the Lightning Ridge Hotel Motel recently and the results were pretty close.

Ron Morriss took out the open cod division with a 10.5kg fish he caught somewhere on the river between Bourke and Brewarrina - he is not saying exactly where.

'Kimbo' took out the adult yellow belly division with a 2.81kg fish that we think she caught at Copeton Dam.

Andrew Turk blitzed the junior yellow belly division with a 3.42kg yellow belly, which he also caught at Copeton Dam.

Charlie Brown won an 8kg cod donated by Ron Morriss for the raffle at the weigh-in, which was very lucky for him, as he did not appear to have caught many fish himself.

We will probably be holding another family fun day in the next school holidays.
