Charlie cleans up again in fishing competition

28 May, 2003 05:54 PM
Charlie Brown has done it again winning the Nobby's Fishing Competition twice in a row.

The weigh-in was held at Nobby's on Sunday May 18 and Charlie cleaned up in the cod division with a 5.2kg cod and the yellow belly section with a 2.13kg fish.

Many of our younger fishermen and Charlie have been competing keenly during the past year and they are very disappointed that Charlie won again with such small fish.

Charlie won the adult section of the first competition held in April and Cooper Scoles won the children's section.

The next competition will be held during the school holidays and the kids will definitely give Charlie a run for his money next time.

Nobby's Fishing Club is also running an overall points competition until the beginning of December.

Max Fuller is heading the leader board with a total weight of 5.75kg and Kimbo is running a close second with 5.25kg - they must fish together. Rick Skell is in third place with 5.1kg and Wallaby Bob is in fourth with 2.86kg.

Fishing is a great family sport and as everyone knows there is a lot more to fishing than catching fish.

Membership to Nobby's Fishing Club is only $20 for adults and $5 for kids under 17.

Members can also buy a great polo shirt with the club logo on the pocket with a fantastic design by Wallaby Bob for an additional $30.

Anyone can join up at any time at Nobby's and the club committee has regular meetings that all members are welcome to attend.

The next meeting will be held tonight at 7pm at Nobby's.
