Residents of Barwon are being urged to apply for the next wave of funding for the Department of Sport and Recreation's Regional Sports Facilities Program.
Barwon MP Ian Slack-Smith said the State Government was calling for applications for the 2004-2005 program designed to assist with the construction or upgrade of major sport and recreation facilities throughout NSW.
"This program presents an excellent opportunity for sporting groups to ensure they have access to the best possible facilities in the pursuit of their chosen sport," he said.
"Funding is available for large scale projects, with grants available between $40,000 and $200,000 to cover up to 50 per cent of the project.
"I have copies of the guidance notes and application forms in my electorate office which are available to members of the public who would like to apply."
Mr Slack-Smith said the purpose of the funding was to increase the availability of state-of-the-art facilities for use by the community to participate in sport, recreation and physical activities as well as improve the safety for users and participants in sporting and recreational activities.
All applications will need to be forwarded to the local regional office of the Department of Sport and Recreation by the closing date of November 30.
