Seven of the elder statesmen of the golf club hit off in the 12 hole Veterans Competition on Wednesday this week.
The winner with a great game was Bruce Buchannan. Bruce defeated the very consistent Wolf Moosmueller. Well done all.
Don't forget it's only a couple of weeks to the Veterans Sand Green Championships here in the Ridge. The Vets have been doing a great job in cleaning up the course and ensuring everything is ship-shape. You have all done a fantastic job.

Ladies golf
Wednesday saw a fairly small but classy field hit their straps for the 18 hole stableford. The winner with 36 points was Heidi Smith. Well done Heidi, how long can you keep the run going. Chasing hard but unable to bridge the gap was Sally Williams with 34 points, successful in a countback from the ball winner Jenny Burke, who also finished with 34 points.

Friday chook run
We had 23 players for our weekly Chook Chase this week, with the scoring fairly close among the chook winners. The winner succeeded on 25 points with the last two chooks being fought out in a four way countback.
The winner, who was possibly cooking a couple of chooks over the weekend was Michelle Knee.
Runner-up Pat Smith was just two points behind.
In the four-way count back for the last two chooks the unlucky players were Martin Turner and Kath Johnston.
The Black Opal Advocate Encouragement Award went to the flashing sticks of Miss F Byrne with four points.

Saturday 12 hole
There were 10 happy players who arrived for the 12 hole stableford event on Saturday afternoon on a very warm day. The winner, with a super stableford score of 31 points was Victor Borkovic. It must be the practice. Chipping out of points behind was Ron Canlin.
The balls for the day were captured by Sally Williams and Pat Smith both with scores of 23 points.

Sunday 18 hole stableford
Ten players turned up for the 18 hole stableford event on Sunday morning this week.
With a fine game and 38 points Terry Wohni skipped away to be the winner for the day. Well done mate.
Kay Hogan had a neat 36 points, just topping Dave Schafer and Joe Popovic on the same score in a count back. Dave and Joe picked up the two balls down the line.
