Lightning Ridge Central School held their secondary swimming carnival last Thursday February 19.
The temperature rose to 42 degrees, but that didn't deter students from Years 7 to 10 attending the day to race against their peers and to win points for their house.
Bruce house came out on top on the day, winning 488 points.
Reece came in next with 257 points and Bodell received 115 points.
The age champions for the 12 to 13 year olds was Carly Kennedy for the girls and Jordan McGovern for the boys.
Fourteen to 15 year old girl champion was Jessica Mullington and 14 to 15 year old boy champion was George Radakovic.
Sixteen open girl champion was Kristina Kelly and 16 open boy champion was David Kennedy.
Novelty events were held during the day including a bombing competition and tube races.
Peter Anderson, Ben Morriss, David Kennedy, Carly Kennedy, Jessica Mullington and Kristina Kelly all made it through to the North West Regional Carnival which will be held in Gunnedah on March 9.
The secondary school sports co-ordinator Mark Thompson said he was pleased with how the carnival went.
