Approximately 15 community members turned up to try their hand at the sport of pistol shooting on Saturday during the club's open day.
Lightning Ridge Pistol Club vice president Tony Cornish said they were happy with the response received from the community and were hoping to get a few new members joining up.
Cornish said the group of visitors tried their hand at shooting a range of different firearms from the .22 to .44 calibre and black powder pistols.
"We showed the visitors demonstrations in the rapid fire, centre fire, standard, black powder and air pistol events."
He said the aim of the day was to try and boost the club's memberships.
"A lot of people in town aren't aware of the facilities we have and what's available for them to use, so this was a good introduction."
Cornish said everyone was very hooked on the black powder demonstration.
"This really interested people and I think it's because the black powder pistols are so different to use from the others."
Cornish said the visitors worked their way up from trying out the smaller pistols first, before being introduced to the ones that were more niche specific.
After Saturday's success, Cornish said the club was hoping to hold an open day every three to four months.
"While we have had a fun day before, this was the first formal open day we've held and it was great."
