Last weekend was a great weekend of bowling with all the men’s district singles being finalised.
Playing masterly bowls, David Webb had a good win over Tony Lamb to take the State Singles title.
The senior singles was a battle of the Browns with Derek up against Ray.
Derek, who was playing great bowls, won in a tight and very exciting game against Ray, but went down on Sunday morning to Frank Williams, who was on fire.
In the afternoon Frank had to play Gordon Richards from Walgett who had beaten Noel Burke.
At 29-all, it was anybody’s game, but Gordon just got the edge on Frank and won by two points. The Richards’ dynasty is quite awesome with Gordon’s son Darren winning the President’s Reserve Singles from Bob Radoski.
In the quarter-finals Bob had beaten 16-year-old Brett Richards who is Gordon’s grandson and Darren’s son. Definitely someone to watch.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and also to Judy Greenfield who finished runner-up in the Namoi Ladies District Singles held at Moree last Tuesday.
A reminder to anybody interested in playing in the Bert Cooper Open Singles this weekend, entries must be in before Friday at the latest.
The cost is $11 and entry forms are available at the office at the club.
Also names must be on the board for all interested in playing this Sunday in the Mother’s Day Fun Day, which starts at 1pm. Until next week, good bowling everybody.
