The men’s club championships are progressing at a good rate with Adam Webb having a good win in the singles against Ian Anderson. Adam is playing very consistent bowls. He won 31-16.
In the men’s pairs, the powerful combination of the Morris brothers, Graham and Phil A., won their match against David Webb and Noel Burke 24-9.
Ray Brown and Peter Williams were to play their pairs match on Tuesday against Tony Aquino and Mick Mitchell. It had to be postponed, however, because of the bad weather. The winner of that match is set to advance into the semi-finals where they will meet the Morris brothers. The winner of this game will play off against Ray Collins and Bob Radoski to ascertain the champion pairs team for 2010.
Nominations to play in the championship triples and fours are now on the board.
The ladies played host to Moree in the first match of the second round of the Pennants on Tuesday March 30. The Ridge Ladies were hoping for a good result as Moree have not lost a game this season. Unfortunately, however, this game had to be abandoned due to the appalling weather. It will now be finished at a later date. The Ridge girls were just three points behind and it could quite easily have gone either way.
Also being played on Tuesday was the men’s singles game between Tony Aquino and Bob Radoski with the winner to advance to the semi-finals. This game will also have to be finished at a later date.
From Tuesday April 6 social bowls will start at 2pm and will be played every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday thereafter due to the end of daylight saving this weekend.
Names must be on the board by 1.30pm with a 2pm start.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Adam for the immaculate condition of the greens, as well as Bob and Joan who do the umpiring for most of our tournaments. To these people who work behind the scenes and without whom our great game of bowls could not operate so efficiently, a large thankyou from us all.
Until next week, good bowling everyone.
