With bowlers scanning the skies hopefully for the past few days it was a great relief to finally see the sun on Tuesday afternoon for the friendly social game between 37 bowlers from the Northern Rivers and 27 from Lightning Ridge. It turned out to be a good afternoon’s bowling.
The Northern Rivers bowlers were from Ballina Bowling Club, Ballina RSL, Alstonville, Bangalow, South Lismore, Lismore City, Lismore Workers Heights, Murwillumbah and Iluka.
They had rather a disappointing trip until now with a match planned at Inverell that had to be cancelled because of the rain and only five ends being played at Narrabri, also because of the weather. So it was nice that the Ridge was able to turn it on for them.
It was a most enjoyable afternoon with all the winning teams going into a hat and all the losing sides likewise to decide the runner-up.
The winners were Rhonda Gramas and local lads Jules Kresky and Adam Webb and the runners-up were Neville Clark, Betty Waddell, Grace Evans and Enid Rann all from Northern Rivers.
The Ladies Bowling Club will be holding a meeting on Friday June 4 at 2pm. Could everybody please attend as the gold slacks have arrived.
Until next week, good bowling everybody.
