District Triples won by one shot

22 Apr, 2010 12:36 PM
It was a great game in the ladies district triples on Monday afternoon.

Last year’s district champions Judy Greenfield, Lyn Carney and Ann Barclay were trying to make it two in a row so that they would have a chance to represent Lightning Ridge again in the Namoi District Triples.

They were up against three ladies who were selected to represent Lightning Ridge in the fours last week - Wilma Jones, Meg Morris and Liz Collins.

It was a very worthy final.

The score went from 11-all to 13-all to 15-all until the last end when Judy and her team held onto a two-shot lead.

Liz Collins, who played wonderful bowls, placed one right on the kitty.

Meg placed another there for two shots to make it a tie.

Judy was able to come under that bowl to cut it back to just one again and although Wilma did her best, Judy’s team ended up just the one shot ahead.

Judy didn’t play her last bowl and the final score was a nail-biting 20-19.

They will represent Lightning Ridge again on May 11.

This year the other clubs in the district will travel to Lightning Ridge for the game.

Be there to give your support.

Congratulations to Ray Brown who had a nice win against the biggest improver in the game Bob Radoski in the singles.

He now meets Adam Webb in the final.

Phil A and Graham Morris beat Ray Collins and Bob Radoski in the club championship pairs.

They now advance to the Championship of Club Championships to be held at Walgett on May 29.

Crowds are building for the social bowls, which are now being held at 2pm.

Names on the board by 1.30pm please.

Entries are at the office for the Bert Cooper singles on May 8 and 9.

Mother’s Day is also on May 9.

Until next week, good bowling everybody.
