Williams and Moosmueller win golf events

24 Jun, 2010 11:27 AM
Both the men and the women held a monthly medal round last week. Sally Williams won the women’s and Wolf Moosmueller won the men’s. Congratulations to both of those players. They will be eligible now to play in the medal of medal competitions towards the end of the year.

At the women’s medal round on Wednesday June 16, Kay Hogan was the runner-up and Winsome O’Brien and Robina Boardman won balls.

Ray Williams won the men’s 12-hole veterans’ stableford last Wednesday with 28 points. Unfortunately there were not enough players for a prize for runner-up to be awarded.

Friday’s chook run started off in a thick fog which hung around for several hours. However, a few of the golfers decided to play. Twelve guys who were in Lightning Ridge for a conference also came and joined the contingent of players, though we still do not know how they could see the balls. It was like pea soup until well after midday.

Wendy Bancroft was the winner with 27 points. Wendy is a keen chook run winner. Chooks down the line went to Alan Huskinson, David Schafer, Laurel Voeks, Karl Voeks, Peter Byron, Peter Glogauer, Jenny Underwood and Chris Underwood.

Kay Hogan won Saturday’s 12-hole stroke game with a net 45.67 and Wolf Moosmueller was the runner-up with net 47.34. Alan Huskinson and Bruce Bryan won balls.

Sunday June 20 was the men’s medal round which Wolf won. Alan Huskinson was the runner-up, one shot behind Wolf. David Schafer and Chris Underwood won balls.

Next week’s games will be as follows:

Friday June 25. Chook run. Hit-off between 8.30am - 3pm.

Saturday June 26. 12-hole stableford round. Hit-off at 12.30pm.

Sunday June 27. Men’s sixth monthly medal, eclectic and putting competitions. Hit-off at 9am.

Wednesday June 30. Women’s fifth monthly medal. Hit-off at 9am.

Wednesday June 30. Veteran’s 12-hole stableford. Hit-off at 1.30pm.

Until next week, take care. Look after each other, keep warm and enjoy your golf.
