Wet weather deters golfers from course

Wet weather deters golfers from course

21 Jan, 2010 08:10 AM
Numbers were down again this week but the humidity was up fairly well and the rain on Saturday night may have put some off from playing on Sunday.

Ray Williams won the veterans nine-hole stableford on Wednesday January 13 with 23 points.

Runner-up was Noel Underwood and a ball went to Pat Smith.

Nine players contested the event.

Friday’s chook run was very poorly attended but the weather was not too pleasant.

Ron Canlin was the winner with 26 points, good game Ron. Chooks were won by Alan Huskinson, Felix Monch and Chris Underwood.

Saturday January 16 was a 12-hole stroke round and the winner was Chris Underwood with a nett 42, which dropped his handicap by one shot. A lovely round Chris. Kay Hogan was runner-up and balls went to Wolf Moosmueller and Sally Williams.

An 18-hole stableford was played on Sunday. After the rain the night before the back nine-holes were too wet so we had to play the front nine twice. It was certainly better than not playing at all.

David Schafer won the event with 36 points. Runner-up was Peter Glogauer and balls went to Noel Underwood and Alan Huskinson.

The golf course is looking the best in years. Lovely and green but the mowers have had to work very hard to keep it playable. A big thank you to everyone who has helped on the course.

Next week’s games will be as follows:

Friday January 22, chook run, hit off 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Saturday January 23, 12-hole reverse scramble - this game will be explained to all on the day, hit off 8am.

Sunday January 24, 18-hole individual par, hit off 8am. Wednesday January 27, Veterans 12-hole stableford, hit off 8.30am.

Until next week, take care, look after each other, keep cool and enjoy your golf.
