Some give up as heat takes hold on greens

28 Jan, 2010 11:54 AM
We had a little reprieve from the heat and boy hasn’t it hit us again. A number of players have decided to call it quits with golf until it gets a bit cooler.

Seven people played the veterans 12-hole stableford on Wednesday January 20. Kay Hogan was the winner with 28 points and runner-up was Wolf Moosmueller with 25.

Friday’s chook run was disappointing in numbers but not in scores.

David Schafer was the winner with 25 points. His game has improved very much over the last few months, which he is convinced is from watching one of our good players. Keep it up Dave.

Chooks down the line were won by Ray Williams, Vidar Hanvold and Felix Monch.

Saturday’s game was a fun one that some liked and others did not, but it was different and I think would always be a good Saturday game. It was called a reverse scramble and instead of taking the best ball you had to play the worst ball, the same rules as an Ambrose. It sometimes became a little frustrating.

Alan Huskinson and Peter Glogauer were the winners and Pat Smith and Kay Hogan won the ball.

An 18-hole par game was played on Sunday with only seven people, but again, the weather was hot.

Ron Hogan won with +3, runner-up was Kay Hogan and balls went to Alan Huskinson and David Schafer.

Next week games will be as follows:

Friday January 29, Chook run, hit off 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Saturday January 30, 12-hole stableford, hit off 8am.

Sunday January 31, 18-hole individual stroke, hit off 8am.

Wednesday February 3, Veterans 12 hole stableford, hit off 8.30am.

Until next week, take care, look after each other, keep cool and enjoy your golf.
