President’s prevail

22 Apr, 2010 11:37 AM
The Captain v President Day held last Sunday was a very closely contested game of stableford.

The President’s team, consisting of Noel Underwood, Alan Huskinson, Jenny Underwood, David Schafer, Knud Nexo and Joe Popovic won with 202 points.

They defeated the Captain’s team, which had 204 points.

Congratulations to the President’s team.

Ron Canlin won Wednesday’s veteran’s 12-hole stableford with 24 points.

It was good to see Reg Proctor back playing with the vets while he is in Lightning Ridge for a short time.

The runner-up was Robina Boardman with a net 73.

Winsome O’Brien won the ball.

Friday’s chook run had a poor field of 11 players.

Laurel Voeks’ winning score of 26 points, however, was not too poor.

Chooks down the line went to Wolf Moosmueller, Vidar Hanvold and Kay Hogan.

A cross-country was held last Saturday which was a lot of fun.

Nine people took part.

Alan Huskinson had the winning score with a net 45.

Knud Nexo was the runner-up.

Wolf Moosmueller and Chris Underwood won the balls.

Another week has passed so it is one week closer to the Black Opal Cup on Saturday May 22 and the Barriekneal Shield on Sunday May 23.

A warning to local players: all entries close on Monday May 10 or when the field is full. Please make sure you have your nomination and money paid before then or you will miss out.

Next week’s games will be as follows:

Friday April 23:. Chook run. Hit-off from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Saturday April 24: Medley foursomes. Hit-off at 12.30pm.

Sunday April 25: 18-hole individual stroke round. Hit-off at 9am.

Wednesday April 28: Veterans 12-hole stableford. Hit-off at 8.30am.

Wednesday April 28: Women’s 18-hole TBA. Hit-off at 9am.

Until next week, take care.

Look after each other and enjoy your golf.
