Huskinson wins with 27 points

25 Jun, 2009 10:31 AM
Thursday and Friday June 18 and 19 had the biggest field for the chook run for this year with 40 players.

We welcomed 15 members of AA who were visiting our town for a game on Friday morning which was great.

Alan Huskinson was the winner with 27 points which was a mighty fine effort off his handicap.

Chooks down the line went to Ron Hogan, Alan Huskinson (2), Kay Hogan (2), Karl Voeks (2), Laurel Voeks (2), Wolf Moosmueller, Peter Byron, Chris Underwood, Jenny Underwood, Pat Smith, Heidi Smith, Mark Morris, Chris Morris and David Schafer.

The women held their fourth medal round on Wednesday June 17 along with the eclectic and putting competitions.

Helen Bruce won the medal with a great score of 108 off the stick and net 66. Congratulations Helen on your first medal. Runner-up was Kath Johnston and a ball went to Kay Hogan.

The men’s veterans 12-hole stableford on Wednesday June 17 was won by Pat Smith with 28 points. The field was too small to have a runner-up.

Saturday June 20 had 11 people playing an 18-hole stableford. The winner with a good score of 42 points was Chris Morris. Runner-up was Kay Hogan with 41 points and balls went to Wolf Moosmueller, John Ciprian and Helen Bruce.

Peter Bryon won the stroke round on Sunday June 21 with a super score of 83 off the stick and net 65.

Felix Monch was runner-up with a net 66 and balls went to Jake Bolton, Chris Underwood and Kay Hogan.

We had very good fields over the weekend considering five of our male players went to the Brewarrina Open. A spot of fishing on the Saturday and then golf on the Sunday. Alan Huskinson, Dave Schafer and Joe Popovic came home with trophies while the others enjoyed themselves.

The results of the Match Play last week were: Kay Hogan defeated Jenny Burke 2 and 1 and is now in the final. Kath Johnston defeated Wendy Bancroft 6 and 5. Kath now has to play Laurel Voeks to decide who plays in the final against Kay.

No results for the men last week.

Get well wishes go to Val Boardman who is in hospital in Sydney.

Congratulations to our book keeper, Natasha Sorokoput, on her 21st birthday last Friday. A little bird has also told me that congratulations are also in order to her and Simon on the announcement of their engagement.

All the members of the golf club wish you both well in the future.

Next week’s games will be as follows: Thursday June 25, chook run, hit-off 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Friday June 26, continuation of chook run, hit-off 8.30am to 3.30pm. Saturday June 27, Medley Canadian Foursome, hit- off 12.30pm.

Sunday June 28, men’s sixth medal round, eclectic and putting competitions, hit-off 9am. Wednesday July 1, women’s fifth medal round, eclectic and putting competitions, hit-off 9am and the men’s veterans 12-hole stableford, hit-off 1.30pm.

Thank you for reading this report. Until next week, take care, look after each other, keep warm and enjoy your golf.
