Alan Huskinson had a wonderful game at Dirranbandi last Sunday to win their Open tournament with 68 off the stick, two under par.
He was in a play-off with Sean Golding from St. George and it is a play-off not to be for gotten. Al hit a tree with his tee shot only to recover with the most brilliant second shot and an even better chip which put him approximately 60 cm from the hole.
His opponent had a long putt, which he missed (he lipped out), end of game.
Congratulations to Al on a great game and an exciting, but nail-biting, play-off. He held himself together so well and did not give up - the signs of a true champion.
The women’s golf was washed out with rain again on Wednesday August 25 but it was just dry enough for the men’s veterans to play that afternoon.
Knud Nexo won with 30 points, three points in front of the next player.
Friday’s chook run had 15 people trying to win a chook.
Once again nobody could catch Peter Glogauer with his winning score of 25 points.
Chooks down the line went to Kath Johnston, Chris Underwood, Laurel Voeks, Karl Voeks and Wolf Moosmueller.
An 18-hole stableford was played on Saturday and the winner was Danny Kapatos with 41 points on a countback from Wolf Moosmueller, with the same score, who was runner-up.
Pat Smith won the ball.
Only six people played the stableford game on Sunday as eight of us went to the Dirranbandi Open tournament.
Wolf Moosmueller won with another great game of 41 points. Felix Monch was runner-up and Danny Kapatos won the ball.
Chris Underwood and David Schafer played the semi-finals of the men’s matchplay competition last Saturday. Chris was in the lead after nine or so holes, but had a wee bit of trouble down the bottom end, so I heard.
David came home the winner three and two.
Congratulations to Dave, who is now in the finals and will play the winner of the match between Peter Glogauer and Danny Kapatos.
