Hogan plays well during holiday events

19 Jan, 2012 10:27 AM
Welcome back readers of the weekly golf report for 2012 and hoping everyone had a lovely Christmas and that this year will be a great one with good health, wealth and happiness for all.

No doubt that is a pipe dream but one can always hope.

Ron Hogan won the chook run on Friday December 23 with 24 points and chooks went to Kay Hogan and David Schafer.

Saturday’s game was a stroke and again Ron Hogan was declared the winner with a nett 69, runner-up was Danny Kapatos with nett 70 and Alan Huskinson won the ball.

Joe Popovic was the winner of the chook run on Friday December 30 with 24 points on a countback from Laurel Voeks who won a chook along with husband Karl and Alan Huskinson.

New Year’s Day competition was a stableford and won by Ron Hogan with 37 points. Good way to start the golfing year Ron.

Alan Huskinson was runner-up with 36 points and Chris Underwood and Danny Kapatos won the balls. Ron Canlin won Nearest the Pin.

A chook run was held on Monday January 2, being a public holiday. David Schafer was the winner with 21 points and Peter Glogauer won the chook down the line.

Friday January 6 saw Joe Popovic win the chook run with 25 points on a countback from Alan Huskinson who scored a chook along with Karl Voeks and Ron Hogan.

Saturday’s game was only a 10-hole stableford because of the humid weather. David Schafer came in with the winning score of 24 points and Danny Kapatos was runner-up.

Sunday January 8 was an extremely warm and humid day on the course, it drained everyone especially the reporter.

Alan Huskinson won the game with 38 points which was a wonderful score considering the weather. The rest of the scores were rather poor but understandable.

Ron Canlin was runner-up and David Schafer and Chris Underwood won the balls. Alan Huskinson also won Nearest the Pin.

Friday’s chook run January 13 was won by Kath Johnston, someone we don’t see too much of during the summer. Kath had 24 points, well done Kath. Chooks down the line went to Alan Huskinson and Laurel Voeks.

Sunday’s stroke game on January 15 was won by Alan Huskinson with 78 off the stick and a nett 69.

Runner-up was Danny Kapatos with nett 71 and balls were won by David Schafer, Joe Popovic and Peter Glogauer.

It was reported at the end of the game that Danny had a champion second shot on the eighth. Alan Huskinson won Nearest the Pin.

This report would not be complete without telling our readers about a certain chap who had an air swing (he missed the ball) with his putter, took a divot with his putter and also shanked a ball with his putter.

The general consensus is that you have a little practise with your putter Dave. As Santa Clause would say “HO HO HO” or is it ha ha ha.

During the summer months, there is not a program of events as such. The golfing year’s program, which commences in March, will be available in February but for now the games are decided on the day except Friday which is always a 10-hole chook run.

Hit off times are as follows:

Friday - 8.30am to 4pm.

Saturday - 8am.

Sunday - 8am.

Wednesday - 8.30am.

Thank you for reading this report, until next week, take care and look after each other.
