What a wonderful Patron’s Day we had on Sunday May 16. Our patron, Val Boardman, hosted the day with the help of his wife Robina.
More than 30 people played the ambrose which is the biggest field for so long and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
A team of four, which consisted of Winsome O’Brien, Jerry Lomax, Alan Huskinson and Kath Johnson, were the winners with a net 58.75.
The runners-up were Cheryl Cook, Barry Fahey and his brother from Dorrigo - unfortunately his name escapes me.
The team of Brett, Gavin and Helen received the Bradmans’ Trophy, whilst the ladies’ longest drive went to Kath Johnston and the men’s was won by Alan Huskinson.
Nearest the pins were won by Jenny Burke, Craig Thomas and Laurel Voeks.
A very big thank you to both Val and Robina for hosting such a great day, for the super trophies and organising the delicious sandwiches.
The women played a stableford on Wednesday May 12. Jenny Burke came home the winner and Kath Johnston won the ball.
Felix Monch won the men’s veterans competition on Wednesday May 12 with 25 points. The number of players were too few for a runner-up prize.
Friday’s chook run was won by Peter Glogauer with a super score of 29 points. Good on you Pete.
Chooks down the line went to Wolf Moosmueller, Wendy Bancroft, Laurel Voeks, Kath Johnston and Peter Byron.
Saturday’s game was a 12-hole stroke. The winner was Alan Huskinson with a net 46 and runner-up was Cheryl Cook with a net 48. Sally Williams won the ball.
Everyone is gearing up and getting ready for this weekend which is the Black Opal Cup on Saturday May 22 and Barriekneal Shield on Sunday May 23.
We are hoping that the inaugural Indigenous day will be a great success on Sunday. It will completely depend upon the number of players, so players, do not let the event be unsuccessful. It is up to you.
Next week’s games will be as follows:
Friday May 21. Chook run. Hit-off 8.30am to 3.30pm.
Saturday May 22. Lightning Ridge Black Opal Cup. 18-hole stableford. Hit-off from 7.30am.
Sunday May 23. Lightning Ridge Barriekneal Shield. 18-hole stroke. Indigenous players only, Hit-off from 7.30am.
Wednesday May 26. Final round women’s foursomes championships. Hit-off 9am.
