Action returns to gymnastics club

22 Jul, 2010 10:42 AM
Classes at the Lightning Ridge Gymnastics Club start again this Friday. General Gym will be held from 3.30pm to 5pm. Kindy Gym will be held from Saturday July 24 between 10am and 11am and Levels will resume on Monday July 26 from 3.30pm to 5pm.

The following weekend, however, there will be no gymnastics because of the Lightning Ridge Opal Festival which will run from Thursday July 29 to Sunday August 1. Gaye will be working on the soup stall at the expo as part the club’s major fundraising efforts. Bernice will be away for family reasons. Anyone wishing to help out, either at the expo or by cooking soup for us to sell, can contact Gaye on 6829 0483. After the weekend of the Opal Festival classes at the gymnastics club will be back to normal.

Our trip to Armidale was exciting and freezing cold. Both mornings we awoke to ice.

The girls did us very proud with six out of seven of them obtaining ribbons and Emma Norton being placed third overall in the Intermediate Level. Brianna Adamson took out second place overall in the Junior Level. Well done girls.

Our last trivia night was a huge success. We made $710. A big thank you must be conveyed to our sponsors: Lightning Ridge Bowling Club, Zita’s Videos and Khan’s IGA Supermarket.

We would also like to say a big thank you to Chris Tome for acting as the MC for the evening.

Thankyou also to everyone who supported the event. During the holidays Bernie and Gaye went to Dubbo to talk to Clark Rubber about sponsoring us with matting for the Track Tramp.

We are delighted to say that they have come on board and will be sponsoring us with our mats. Also, while we were there, we stayed at the Fountain View Motel, which again offered us two nights’ accommodation to raffle. Raffle tickets are on sale now.

There will also be $50 to go towards fuel.

We would to thank both Clark Rubber and the Fountain View Motel in Dubbo for their support and sponsorship. We hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday and is looking forward to a great term of gymnastics. See you there.
