Coach has divers ready to compete

19 Jan, 2012 10:38 AM
Diving NSW state coaching director Allen Bull has been in the Ridge for the past week and a half coaching the Lightning Ridge Diving Club members.

Originally a gymnist, Allen was coaching gymnastics in 1961 at the tender age of 14. He became involved with diving in 1968

Allen said he loved diving.

“It keeps me alive, mixing with young people keeps you young,” he said. “I love to coach and see young people achieve something, and my dream at this competition, is to see Lightning Ridge win lots of medals.

After this competition, there could be five or six divers from the Ridge go to Newcastle NSW Championships in March, and then in April.

“It is a dream to see 10 or 12 go to Sydney for the NSW School Championships,” he added.

Editor’s note:

The difference in the diving techniques since Allen has been coaching is just amazing.

The Ridge divers have been in the pool for such a short time since the club was formed following the centre’s opening last year.

Allen has put the final touches to these divers enabling them to compete .

Congratulations Allen the Ridge thanks you for your dedication.
