Last game of season for juniors

09 Apr, 2009 01:29 PM
An excellent game was had by all during the last match of the junior cricket season.

For the second week in a row both teams played two innings each.

Nicholas Hill and Ben Ferguson were the captains with Nick’s team winning the game by 17 runs.

Ben won the toss and chose to bowl.

Nick’s team scored 58 runs in their first innings with Nick and Michael McGregor providing some top scoring. Max Hall, Izaak Drew and Brendan Lollback all took wickets for their team.

Ben’s team replied with 45 runs in their first innings with Max leading the way in the batting. Ben McWilliams took two wickets with one also to Darcy Barrett.

In the second innings a challenging score was set by Nick’s team when they added 79 runs to make their total 137 overall.

Michael (39 runs), Nick (29 runs) and Ben McWilliams (14 runs) made sure their team would be hard to beat.

Two wickets went to Darcy Kidd and one two Ben McWilliams.

Max (37 runs) and Brendan (18 runs) battled hard to reach the target score but just fell short in the end with 120 runs.

Brendan was unlucky to be out by LBW twice for the game.

Wickets were taken by Nick, Darcy, and Alister Curry.

So that’s it for junior cricket for this season. We’ll be back ready to start the 2009/2010 season in October.

Thanks to David Curry who umpired on Saturday and to all those who have helped out over the summer.
