 Great game of big hits

Great game of big hits

18 Feb, 2010 10:24 AM
This week’s cricket was our first since the Christmas break.

All the players were keen to hit the field and get rid of any holiday cobwebs.

Our two captains for the match were Zach Webb and Nick Hill.

Nick’s team batted first and got off to a great start with Nick and Steven putting together a good opening partnership.

Nick scored 17 n.o and hit a few excellent boundaries.

Arabella, who played for both teams, scored a quick-fire 37 including some big sixes. Oscar, who played his first game after travelling from Walgett, scored an excellent 22 n.o.

All bowlers bowled well with Ned bowling an exceptionally good line and length. At the end of the innings Nick’s team had scored a competitive 106.

When it was Zach’s team’s time to bat. There were several solid contributions.

Ned and Rory opened the batting and had to withstand a great first over from Nick who claimed the wicket of Ned.

Steven also bowled very well and picked up the wicket of Rory.

When it was Arabella’s turn to bat, she again entertained everyone with some big hits on her way to a well-made 47 n.o.

The team made a good effort of chasing the runs but fell short, finishing on 80.

A big thankyou to our younger players, Oscar Cheal, Aaron Walsh and Martin Lane who stepped up from the Milo cricket.

Also, I would like to thank Oscar’s dad for umpiring and Aaron’s dad for helping to organise the players.

I hope to see some more new players next week and don’t forget about training on Wednesdays at 5pm.
